Movement: Shutter speeds
This exercise and the next one involved photographing something that moves across one's view. I tried different subjects.
Movement: Juggling
First, I photographed Laura juggling; it enabled me to experiment with different shutter speeds, from slow shutter speeds where her arm and hand are blurred and the ball is invisible, which capture the sense of movement, to fast shutter speeds, which capture the detail of the ball in the air.
Movement: Fire
Here, I experimenting with taking photos of the fire in my wood burner. I am fascinated by the flames, and I wanted to see the effect of different shutter speeds would have in how the flames are captured. Whereas the first one, with a shutter speed of 0.3 sec give the impression of a roaring fire, I think the other two, with a much faster shutter speed, convey better the idea of the dancing flames.
