Circles
As the TAOP materials point out (p.94), it was difficult to find circular shapes to photograph. I thought I would do my assignment for this unit on "the raw materials of food", so took some photos of some olives, because i loved their colour and the fact that they were so shiny. In the first image put three olives on a wooden board, and I think the circular shape of the board itself and of the inner carved circle of the wood do indeed provide a tightness and a compactness to the composition (p.94). In the second image, the white bowl, the inner circle and the two outer circles of the board emphasize the circular composition. I also think that the fact that the bowl is not in the centre of the board, although still aligned with the inner carved circle, throws the composition off balance a little, creating a bit more dynamism.
The image of the egg in a bowl plays with the idea of circles within circles. I like the image of the egg box - it shows the fragility of the egg shell. |
